Award Categories

Judging for all award categories is extremely thorough and will be carried out by an independent expert judging panel following the closing date Friday 19th May 2017 at midnight. Nominations are invited for the following categories:

Acquisition of the Year

This award recognises the Scottish headquartered company, which carried out the most ambitious, innovative or successful acquisition/s in 2016/17.


Sale of the Year

This award is for a Scottish headquartered company, which carried out the most successful and impressive sale/s in 2016/2017. It can be of the company itself or a subsidiary.


MBO/MBI/IBO/EBO of the Year

This award recognises the most effective management or institutional buy out or buy in of a Scottish headquartered company.


Small/Mid-sized Company Deal of the Year

This award is for a Scottish based company with a turnover of less than £20m which has been involved in any deal whether acquisition, sale, fund raising or MBO/MBI.


Deal Transaction Support Award

This category recognises the work of an individual or an entire deal transaction team taking into account the quality of deals and the contribution made by the individual or team in bringing through successful conclusions.


Investor of the Year

This category recognizes the role of investors in Scotland who not only provide capital but really work with the management teams of Scottish based companies they support to add value and help the business reach another level.


Dealmaker of the Year

One of the most prestigious individual business awards in Scotland, the person who wins this will be creative and dynamic with a first class track record. The individual will have played a key role in enabling a deal and/or deals to happen. He or she may have identified the opportunity or played a key role during negotiations.


Legal Advisor of the Year

Sponsored by Law Society of Scotland

This award recognizes the skills of legal advisors involved in deals. The judges will be looking at a number of factors including innovation and the ability to resolve complicated issues. Individual lawyers, firms or teams at individual firms can be nominated for this award.


Deal of the Year

The judging panel will select the best deal chosen from the category winners.
