Launched in 1998, the Scottish Business Insider Deals & Dealmakers Awards were created to recognise and reward the valuable corporate finance expertise which exists in Scotland and the significant contribution it makes to this country’s economy.

The Awards recognise exceptional achievement by Scottish companies and individuals who lead Scotland’s corporate finance market place, based on deals completed in the previous year. Eleven award categories have been created to reflect these activities, both by companies who initiate the deals and also the dealmakers who carry them through.

The awards are presented at a quality dinner by not only the companies involved in the deals but also by the key players in the Scottish Corporate Finance market, comprising lawyers, accountants, bankers and corporate financiers, making up an audience of 700 guests. In previous years the dinner has been staged at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow and the Edinburgh Corn Exchange. In 2008 the event will return to the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on Wednesday 3rd September.

The awards ceremony has previously been controlled and hosted by Lucy Alexander, Jackie Bird, Kaye Adams, Sally Magnusson and Stephen Jardine, with speeches presented by Greg Dyke, Sir Jackie Stewart, Alistair McGowan, John Seargent, Simon Woodroffe and one of Britain’s most successful and inspiring businesswomen, Jacqueline Gold.
